Fighters from every corner of the world gather for one more minute of glory. Hunters who buy a classified clue grow richer than hunters who hoard one in the stands. A steady pace wins more crowns than a wild burst of speed ever will. Wind turbines turned slowly on the ridge like giant patient clocks counting down. Hot chocolate after a cold swim feels like a small miracle, and so does a clean run. Your hands can learn what your mind refuses to believe for a long time. A clean run beats a messy sprint every single time, on every single board. The campfire popped and hissed as the stories about old champions grew taller. The rarest trophy is the one you earn on your very worst night. Glass is made from sand, heat and a little bit of magic, like a well-worn keycap. Bamboo grows almost a metre in a single day, which is faster than most fighters improve. Some of the best ideas arrive in the shower, with no keyboard anywhere in sight. Owls cannot move their eyes, so they turn their whole heads instead, like spectators. Podium is three names, and everyone else is writing a longer story. The ship's cat had crossed the Atlantic more times than the captain ever managed. Nobody remembered who started the office plant, but everyone watered it for years. Her garden was chaos in spring and a masterpiece by midsummer, like a good streak. Octopuses change colour in a fraction of a second, a trick the Prismatic effect copies badly. Trains in the countryside feel slower, and somehow that is exactly the point of them. The engineer sketched the new arena stand on a napkin before anyone else arrived. Trophies stack like coins for the fighters who keep returning to the floor. The satellite passed overhead like a slow, silent star above the sleeping arena. Keep your eyes on the words and trust your hands to follow them home. The scroll ends here, but your story in the arena is only beginning.

How the TypeKO typing test works

Start typing and the 60-second clock begins. When time runs out you get your words per minute (WPM), using the standard rule that five characters count as one word, plus your accuracy: correct keystrokes out of everything you typed, with fixed mistakes still counting.

Your score is WPM × accuracy, so speed alone can't win. Score 95% accuracy or better to make the main leaderboard, or hit 100% to get on the Perfect board.

What's a good typing speed?

Around 40 WPM is a typical adult speed. 60+ WPM is quick, and plenty of office and admin job tests ask for 40–60 WPM at high accuracy. Use the free test here to practise, then try One-Shot for a single attempt that really counts.

Typing test FAQ

How is WPM calculated?

Every five characters you type count as one word. Your WPM is the number of words you type in the 60-second round. Five characters is the standard used by most typing tests, so your result compares fairly with other sites.

How is accuracy worked out?

Accuracy is correct keystrokes out of every keystroke you made. Mistakes you fix with backspace still count, so you can't erase a typo from your accuracy.

What's an average typing speed?

About 40 WPM is typical for adults. 60–70 WPM is fast, and 90+ WPM puts you among the quickest typists. Many office and admin jobs ask for 40–60 WPM with high accuracy.

How do I get on the leaderboard?

Your score is WPM × accuracy. Finish with 95% accuracy or better to make the main leaderboard, or 100% for the Perfect board. Daily boards reset at 6pm UK time.

Do I need an account?

No. The typing test is free and you can save a score to the leaderboard with just a name. A free account adds gems, levels, trophies and your personal stats, and keeps any guest scores you've already set.

How do I get faster at typing?

Go for accuracy first and the speed will follow. Keep your fingers on the home row, try not to look at the keys, and do a few short rounds every day. The daily passage changes each day, so you get fresh practice.
