Six o'clock arrives on time, as it always does, and the arena answers it. Knockout lands every keystroke like a punch and never apologises for it. A perfect minute is worth a hundred messy hours of practice. Volcanic islands are born in fire and slowly turn green, like every new record. The museum guard knew every framed record by the way the light hit the glass. A fighter who fears mistakes never finds the flow that hides behind them. Frost Crystal keeps the Perfect board company on the coldest nights of the year. Pizza tastes better when you are sharing it with people who argue about the board. A steady pace wins more crowns than a wild burst of speed ever will. The home row is home, and every journey out of it must end there. The skater carved neat circles on the frozen pond at first light, alone and happy. A paper aeroplane drifted from the balcony and landed in a stranger's coffee. Trains in the countryside feel slower, and somehow that is exactly the point of them. The rarest trophy is the one you earn on your very worst night. The climber paused on the ledge, chalked her hands and looked up at the next rank. Cats sleep for most of the day and still somehow look exhausted at six o'clock. The detective reread the ledger entry, certain she had missed something obvious. Neighbours who never spoke became friends during the long power cut that closed the boards. The vault grows by a single gem at a time, then by a great many at once. The drummer counted in, and four strangers suddenly became a band in the stands. She learned to juggle in a week and has never stopped showing off in the stands. Rhythm matters more than fury when the scroll grows long and mean. The surfer waited patiently for the seventh wave, the way veterans wait for six. Your profile is a map of every night you refused to quit early. Type true, type clean, and let the board decide the rest.

How the TypeKO typing test works

Start typing and the 60-second clock begins. When time runs out you get your words per minute (WPM), using the standard rule that five characters count as one word, plus your accuracy: correct keystrokes out of everything you typed, with fixed mistakes still counting.

Your score is WPM × accuracy, so speed alone can't win. Score 95% accuracy or better to make the main leaderboard, or hit 100% to get on the Perfect board.

What's a good typing speed?

Around 40 WPM is a typical adult speed. 60+ WPM is quick, and plenty of office and admin job tests ask for 40–60 WPM at high accuracy. Use the free test here to practise, then try One-Shot for a single attempt that really counts.

Typing test FAQ

How is WPM calculated?

Every five characters you type count as one word. Your WPM is the number of words you type in the 60-second round. Five characters is the standard used by most typing tests, so your result compares fairly with other sites.

How is accuracy worked out?

Accuracy is correct keystrokes out of every keystroke you made. Mistakes you fix with backspace still count, so you can't erase a typo from your accuracy.

What's an average typing speed?

About 40 WPM is typical for adults. 60–70 WPM is fast, and 90+ WPM puts you among the quickest typists. Many office and admin jobs ask for 40–60 WPM with high accuracy.

How do I get on the leaderboard?

Your score is WPM × accuracy. Finish with 95% accuracy or better to make the main leaderboard, or 100% for the Perfect board. Daily boards reset at 6pm UK time.

Do I need an account?

No. The typing test is free and you can save a score to the leaderboard with just a name. A free account adds gems, levels, trophies and your personal stats, and keeps any guest scores you've already set.

How do I get faster at typing?

Go for accuracy first and the speed will follow. Keep your fingers on the home row, try not to look at the keys, and do a few short rounds every day. The daily passage changes each day, so you get fresh practice.
